Buffalo Bull, or Syncerus caffer
Shortly after arriving in the Chobe National Park, we saw this Buffalo Bull with a herd of at least five hundred Buffalos. When photographing these dark animals you should try to underexpose with at least one stop to avoid a grey washed out look. Other animals to be careful not to overexpose include hippos, elephants (especially when wet) and dark birds. Rhinos tend to be neutrally grey. Our visit to Chobe National Park in June 2005 was a magical experience, as visits to this paradise tend to be. It is very high on my list of recommended places to visit on an Africa Safari. I just do hope that the Department of Wildlife and National Parks start doing something about the bursting Elephant population, as the game density of other animals and the general quality of the bush is suffering as a result of high Elephant numbers.
