Landscape Picture 6

The large Leadwood tree in this landscape picture is what caught my eye. They are quite prevalent in the Moremi Game Reserve of Botswana, escpecially near the North Gate campsite, where this shot was taken. The light was good when I first saw the opportunity, which meant that I could take the photograph right there and then, and did not have to return later to get my shot.
This is the same picture as the previous one in a vertical (portrait) format. It is a good idea to offer picture editors the choice between horizontal and vertical pictures as they will usually have a piece of paper to fill with your picture and it will not always be better to use a horizontal photograph. Plus, if you only take horizontal photographs, you will not sell too many book or magazine cover photographs.
I am a big fan of the Northern Botswana region (as you most probably know by now!) and therefore I try to go there often. However, when watching mother nature and her creatures, you can end up not seeing too much. June 2005 was one of those trips. We did not see much in the form of the big five (except hundreds of elephants), but normally this reserve is one of the best places in the world to view Africa's wildlife. We still made the best of the privilege of being in such a wonderful reserve and enjoyed the bushveld and bird life.
If you also want opportunities to take pictures like this one, why don't you visit my
