It is very dusty. That is a big advantage to the landscape photographer. The dust in the air means that at sunrise or sunset, the light has to travel through thick clouds of dust from all the activity on the land during the day. This gives the light that unmistakable red African glow. When photographing landscapes, always use the light to your advantage. Obviously, you need to be out there before sunrise. You will also be back in camp only after sunset. My advice is to spend the spend the hours of harsch sunlight resting... Just like the animals. Most of the photographs shown here were taken in Southern Africa, as this is where I live and travel the most. Landscapes all over Africa are worth photographing. East African landscapes can be just as stunning. Please be inspired by these pictures, or just enjoy them. You can click on each thumbnail to view a large copy of the picture.
