Lion Cub Picture 5

I took this Lion Cub Picture early one morning in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, at the Cubitje Quap waterhole. We were waiting patiently at the waterhole, for only a few minutes when four lion cubs made their welcome appearance. Unfortunately, the sun was still just behind some low cloud on the horizon, and we missed the magic first light. I think the light is still very special and soft here. This is also one of my favourite pictures.
I visited the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park in March 2006 with my photography mentor, Johan Joubert APSSA. We had a really good time and I still believe this is one of the top four wildlife photography hotspots in Southern Africa. I just wish that someone will fix the broken waterpumps so that the wildlife can have sufficient water. The roads are pretty bad as well, but it is still well worth a visit.
If you also want opportunities to take pictures like this one, why don't you visit my
