Male Lion Picture 1

I took this Male Lion Picture one morning close to the Mata-Mata restcamp in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. The lions (or most probably rather the lionesses) had brought down a Gemsbok (Oryx) very close to the road during the night and it was a true family feast. Unfortunately, the sun was behind them and it did not make for good photography. It was a tragedy and I still sometimes think of the pictures that could have been. If only they were on the other side of the road... But then again, there are no guarantees in the world of wildlife photography.
My visit to the Kgalagadi Transfronitier Park in February 2005 was my first. I immediately fell in love with this huge thirstland. It is suited very well to wildlife photography, and I try to go there once annually now. It is a good place to see the three big cats and it is known as the bird of prey hotspot. Well worth a visit...
