Nile Crocodile, or Crocodylus niloticus

The Nile Crocodile. What a legend... This creature is older than the mountains. It is unmistakabale, large (up to 600 kgs) and has horny plates covering its body. This photograph was taken while on a cruise on the Kavango River, in Namibia's Kaprivi Strip.
The Kavango River feeds the legendary Okavango Delta just after it enters Botswana and its name changes to the Okavango River.
The Kaprivi strip does not really offer the nature photographer much. However, the Mahanga Game Reserve is a good place to visit if you are after Sable or Roan antelope. The big action is just south of the Kaprivi strip in Northern Botswana. Here you have the Delta, Moremi Game Reserve and Chobe National Park.
