Warthog, or Phacochoerus africanus

I took this Warthog picture in the Chobe National Park. Early in the mornings you can expect to see these peculiar creatures all along the Chobe floodplain, on their knees snacking away. These animals are almost the perfect neutral grey colour, so exposure readings off the skin are fairly accurate.
Our visit to Chobe National Park in June 2005 was a magical experience, as visits to this paradise tend to be. It is very high on my list of recommended places to visit on an Africa Safari. I just do hope that the Department of Wildlife and National Parks start doing something about the bursting Elephant population, as the game density of other animals and the general quality of the bush is suffering as a result of high Elephant numbers.
If you also want opportunities to take pictures like this one, why don't you visit my
Africa Safaris
